Clear Braces
Clear braces work just like traditional braces, but use tooth-colored ceramic brackets that blend in with your natural smile. They’re a popular choice for teens and adults who want the precision of braces with a more discreet look.

How Clear Braces works
A clear, step-by-step look at what to expect during treatment.
- 1
Consultation
An in-office exam and digital scans so your orthodontist can confirm clear braces are a good fit and map out your treatment plan.
- 2
Placement
Ceramic brackets are bonded to each tooth in a single visit and connected with an archwire that begins guiding your teeth into place.
- 3
Adjustments
Brief check-ins every 6–8 weeks to adjust the wire and track progress. Treatment time is similar to traditional braces.
Who it's for
- Teens and adults who want a more discreet option
- Patients who prefer fixed braces over removable aligners
- Cases that need the precise control of braces
- Anyone who doesn’t want to keep track of trays

Clear Braces FAQs
Are clear braces as effective as metal braces?
For most cases, yes — they use the same brackets-and-wire approach. Ceramic brackets are slightly larger and less durable than metal, so for some bites your orthodontist may recommend metal brackets on certain teeth. We’ll go over what’s best for you at your consultation.
Do clear braces stain?
The ceramic brackets themselves resist staining. The small elastic ties that hold the wire can pick up color from coffee, tea, and some foods, but they’re replaced at each adjustment visit.
How long does treatment take?
About the same as traditional braces — most patients finish in 12–24 months, depending on the complexity of the case. Your orthodontist will give you a more specific estimate at your consultation.
Do clear braces cost more than metal braces?
Ceramic brackets often cost somewhat more than metal. We’ll review all costs, insurance, and payment options at your consultation.
