Bracket
Solution:
The bracket has come unglued from the tooth, but it is still
attached to the archwire. Solution: call the office to arrange
to have the bracket removed temporarily or replaced. |

Problem:
Loose Band
Solution:
The band has come unglued from the tooth, and it may or
may not be attached to the archwire. Solutions: call the office
to have the band removed temporarily or recemented onto the
tooth. If the band is on the tooth that a headgear is worn,
stop wearing the headgear at once until the problem is fixed.
Also, please bring the headgear with you for the appointment.

Problem:
Elastik or wire Ligature Tie Came Off
Solution:
Don't panic, just leave it off until your next appointment
if it is within a couple of weeks. However, if your next scheduled
appointment imore than two weeks away, please call the office
to reschedule or be seen on a SOS basis to have the tie replaced. |

Problem:
Archwire came out of the last bracket.
Solutions:
(a) If it is a flexible wire, use a plier or tweezer and place
the wire back back into the slot of the last bracket; or
(b) if it is a fairly stiff wire which does not bend easily,
use a cutter and cut the archwire near the corner of the mouth;
then remove the short cut section from the mouth; or
(c) call the office or doctor immediately. |

Problem:
Archwire came out of the last bracket on one side
and protrudes out on the other side.
Solutions:
(a) shift the wire back into the bracket slot on the side
that came out; or
(b) cut the archwire on the side that is protruding out; or
(c) call the office or doctor immediately. |

Problem:
Poking ligature tie-wire.
Solutions:
(a) Use the eraser end of a pencil to push in the tie-wire;
or
(b) place wax on the tie-wire; or
(c) call the office immediately. |

Problem:
Long and poking end of an archwire.
Solutions:
(a) Dry the area with cotton or tissue, and then place wax
on the poking end; or
(b) cut the archwire at the corner of the mouth on the side
that is long, and then remove the short section that has been
cut;
or
(c) call the office or doctor immediately. |
